Businessman Levon Hayrapetyan, defendant in the Bashneft case, has been released from house arrest. So, arrest has been replaced with recognizance not to leave, a source has told TASS, clarifying that such a decision has been taken because "the maximum period of custodial detention has expired."
Hayrapetyan's house arrest period expired on September 15. Under the Bashneft case, he has been in custody since July 2014. Under another case (misappropriation of 700 thsd USD received from ex-senator of Bashkiria Igor Izmestyev), he has been in custody since September 2014. Under the second case, the Prosecutor General's Office has not affirmed the indictment and submitted the materials for additional inquiry. To recall, Levon Hayrapetyan, 66, was detained at Domodedovo Airport on July 15, 2014. He is charged with privity to embezzlement of Bashneft's shares and legalization of illegal funds.
