Levon Melik-Shahnazaryan, a well-known Armenian political analyst, the head of Voskanapat Analytical Center, died on August 8 after long and heavy illness.
Levon Melik-Shahnazaryan was born in 1958 in Kirovabad. In 1974, he entered the Tashkent Institute of Russian language and literature. Melik- Shahnazaryan moved to Artsakh in 1988. He was the deputy leader of the "Unity" movement. In November December of the same year he led the self-defense units in Gandzak. In 1991 he was elected as a deputy of the NKR National Assembly. From 1992 to 1995 he chaired the NKR National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Relations. Levon Melik-Shahnazaryan moved to Yerevan in 1997 and was engaged in lecturing and analytical activities. He is the author of more than 500 political analysis and articles. He was married and had three children.
