Sending hundreds of soldiers to death, Baku demonstrates that it considers them as virtual puppets, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said at today's press conference when commenting on the tension on the Line of Contact of the Artsakh and Azeri troops and on the Armenian-Azeri border.
He said that Azerbaijan's leadership has bewildered the country with its policy and now it is doing hysteric actions to come out of the situation. Nalbandian thinks that by escalating the tension on the Line of Contact, Baku is trying to draw its society's attention away from the domestic political problems. "By sending hundreds of soldiers to death, Baku demonstrates that it considers them as virtual puppets. The doubts about Baku's reasonableness and Azeri authorities' sober thinking are growing with every passing day", the minister stressed.
When asked if the Armenian Foreign Ministry has informed the CSTO of escalation of the tension in the Karabakh conflict zone, the minister said that the Foreign Ministry has informed not only the CSTO, but also the OSCE, the UN and a number of other structures. In this light, when asked whether it's time to revise the Armenian-Russian relations, Nalbandian said that the countries have allied and strategic relations, which will be expanded and deepened. He recalled that on Jan 3 CSTO Secretary General Nikolay Bordyuzha made a statement on the breach of the ceasefire. Nalbandian pointed out that all the statements of the CSTO should be coordinated with all members of the structure, so, one should not expect a prompt response. He added that the statements will lose their sense if made after each incident.
To note, over the past 20 days Azerbaijan has repeatedly mounted sabotage attacks. As a result, Azerbaijan has lost 14 servicemen. 20 more Azeri soldiers have been wounded. Unfortunately, the Armenian side also has losses. Since the beginning of 2015, 10 Armenian servicemen have died on the border and on the Line of Contact.
