The Disaster Risk Reduction in Armenia program was launched in Yerevan on June 25.
The program is implemented on the initiative of the Armenian Red Cross Society, Oxfam, UNICEF and Save the Children organizations in cooperation with the Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations and Ministry of Education and Science.
Head of the Save the Children charitable organization Irina Sakhoyan said that Save the Children will implement the program in 21 establishments of the country, including schools for children from poor families, children with disabilities, as well as orphanages. 10 of these establishments will be opened in Yerevan, and the other 11 - in Shirak, Gegharkunik and Lori regions.
The Disaster Risk Reduction program is a regional initiative, which is financed by the European Commission Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection, Disaster Preparedness ECHO (DIPECHO) program.
Head of Oxfam Office in Armenia Margarita Hakobyan thinks this program is an example of effective cooperation. "We are gaining more results due to joint efforts. At the same time, the program is much obliging because each organization cares not only for implementation of its program, but also for disaster risk reduction in our country", she said.
