Armenian Police is currently detaining all the citizens who are passing by Khorenatsi Street near the seized Police building, including foreign citizens.
Noteworthy, most of them are citizens, who have no relation to the demonstrations, and are just passing by that part of the street. Actress Arsine Khanjyan, who is not citizen of Armenia, has also been detained. Police explain its actions with safety considerations.
MP Nikol Pashinyan is also there; he has noted that the authorities display tolerance towards political processes unless the situation is likely to run out of control. "Most likely, the authorities have felt the danger", he noted criticizing the leaders of the "Founding Parliament", who failed to reach consensus yesterday and to take right actions, as a result of which firefight started on the territory of the building between the armed group and the law enforcers. He also qualified the actions of the police as illegal.
Pashinyan has also stressed that the main goal at the moment is to avoid bloodshed and convening of extraordinary session of the parliament may guarantee this. According to him already 4 MPs have signed under the initiative including head of Armenian National Congress Levon Zurabyan. He stressed that as a result of the session a delegation from the MPs should be formed to enter the territory of the building and negotiate with the group.
