The Armenian Defense Ministry's IT cooperation with experts is still going on and it is not connected with the April escalation in Artsakh, Armenian Defense Ministry Spokesman Artsrun Hovhannisyan said at a press conference in Yerevan on May 3.
He said that he is personally aware of the numerous meetings between the IT sector representatives and the Ministry. "Some proposals were accepted before the April war and new proposals have been presented during the latest meeting," he said. Hovhannisyan failed to comment on the information that deputy defense minister Alik Mirzabekyan was dismissed due to inefficient cooperation with the IT experts.
Hovhannisyan added that the Armenian army is equipped with all the necessary arms and that the supply of weapons and military hardware has not stopped. In this light, he stressed that the arms are being upgraded within the framework of the 200 mln USD preferential loan. "Our arsenal includes weapons many countries can only dream of, however, along with them we also use the arms made in the 1980s and even 1950-60s, because these are efficient arms," he said.
He added that the weapons made in the 1980s remain the most effective weapons in the Russian arsenal. Hovhannisyan stressed that he does not know a single case when the Armenian armed forces were trying to acquire any weapons from Russia and the latter refused to sell it or hindered acquisition of those weapons from a third country. "Now matter how strong the Armenian soldiers are, there can be no victory without weapons," he said.
