This year Yerevan Opera Theater will present Bizet's Carmen.
According to choreographer of the opera Ara Asaturyan, the director of the project is Armen Meliksetyan, who already staged Carmen a few years ago but this time it will be a modern version.
This is not first time Asaturyan makes choreography for opera. Last Sept he took part in the production of Andrey Babayev's Artsvaberd in Shushi.
Quite recently Asaturyan presented his Death and the Maiden ballet. Based on Maxim Gorky's poem, the ballet was featured in one night with La Vita Nuova, a work by young talented choreographer Rima Pipoyan.
Both performances had a raving success, which inspired Asaturyan and Pipoyan to continue their cooperation. In the future they may appear with a joint project, White Nights, based on Dostoyevsky's novel.
