The issue related to the Armenian businessman Levon Hayrapetyan, who is serving his sentence in Russian prison, is in the center of Armenian Ombudsman's attention, according to the statement of Secretary of Armenian Ombudsman Zohrab Yeganyan, received by ArmInfo.
"This issue was also discussed during the telephone conversation with the Russian Ombudsman on July 4 related to the problems on Upper Lars border checkpoint. The sides discussed Hayapetyan's health condition" the statement reads.
On April 14 2016 Zamoskvoretski District Court of Moscow sentenced businessman Levon Hayrapetyan to 4 years in general regime penal colony and found him guilty in misappropriation of 700 thsd USD received from ex-senator of Bashkiria Igor Izmestyev's mother. The court resolved that in spring of 2010 Hayrapetyan misled Tamara Izmestyeva promising a softer sentence for her son in exchange for a big amount of money. Levon Hayrapetyan does not admit the fault.
