Trend reports that Turkish ambassador to Azerbaijan Ismayil Alper Choshkun has told the journalists that Turkey is confident about its history and that sooner or later the world will acknowledge the historic facts of the 1915 events.
Speaking of his attitude towards Pope Francis' statement that the 1915 events are neither more nor less than genocide against the Armenians, the Ambassador has said that that Vatican's single-ended estimate of the 1915 events cause deep regret. According to the diplomat, during 1915 events along with Armenians other nations of the region got hurt as well.
According to him, one cannot take into account the sufferings of one nation, but ignore the others'. Alper Choshkun said that the heat turned on Turkey would not reflect on affect "Ankara's peaceable policy".
According to the ambassador, "along with Azerbaijan and other fraternal-Muslim countries Turkey will keep appealing the international community for peace". "We are confident about our history. We are aware of the historic facts of the 1915 events, we are sure that sooner or later the world will acknowledge them", said the diplomat.
