Both the EU and Poland are for normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations, Polish Ambassador to Armenia Jerzy Marek Nowakowski told reporters on May 4.
He said the European Parliament's April 15 resolution on the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide was a call on Turkey to face its history. "Both Yerevan and Ankara are important partners for us and we want the see their relations normalized," he said.
The diplomat said Poland has an experience in reconciliation with other countries: Russia, Ukraine, and European countries. During the WWII the people of Poland in the Western Ukraine experienced a similar genocide as Armenians in 1915, but it did not hold Poland from restoring its relations with Ukraine, the ambassador said. "We are ready to contribute to Armenia-Turkey normalization," he said.
