Armenian-Georgian cooperation in the field of defense is developing, Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan said at a joint press conference with his Georgian counterpart Tinatin Khidasheli in Yerevan on February 1.
"Although the two countries have different political priorities - Armenia is a CSTO member, while Georgia strives for NATO - enhancement of the regional security is a common goal," he said. In this light, he stressed the need for creating an atmosphere of tolerance and settling problems by political methods.
Minister Khidasheli, in turn, said Armenia and Georgia have a common aspiration for peace in the South Caucasus, and Tbilisi stands ready to achieve this goal together with Yerevan.
As for the Georgian-Turkish relations, Khidasheli said Tbilisi has strategic relations with a NATO member Ankara.
"The relations with Turkey are of high importance for Georgia and we are thankful to the Turkish party for its assistance at NATO and target-oriented cooperation," the Georgian minister said for conclusion.
