President of the League for Protection of Drivers Tigran Hovhannisyan demands resignation of Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan for the fact that the Government has facilitated the procedure of licensing of taxi services.
At today's press conference, the Government no longer requires the taxi drivers to undergo medical examination. "The medical examination should not be cancelled because it ensures the safety of transportation. It is necessary to toughen the regulation in the transport sector", said Hovhannisyan.
It should be noted that the Government cancelled the requirement related to medical examination because the examination was fictitious and contained additional corruption risks.
Hovhannisyan pointed out that the rights of car importers are infringed in Armenia. In accordance with the current standards, importers cannot independently conduct the customs clearance of the cars. For these purposes the Government has introduced the institute of customs brokers who levy 35 thsd AMD for their services. "I tried to do the customs clearance of a car myself, but the State Revenue Committee gave me no code to enter the system and advised me to apply to a broker. They force us to make use of their brokers' services", he said. He also stressed that the State Revenue Committee conceals the information on the customs clearance cost.
