The South Caucasus Railway Company's "Armenia" train running Yerevan-Batumi-Yerevan left on 15 June opening the summer season of passenger transportation.
The company's press-service told ArmInfo, the first "Armenia" train transported 65 passengers to the Black Sea resorts in Georgia. The train will be running every day until October 1, departure time is 3:30pm from Yerevan. Tickets are available at the railways stations in Yerevan, Vanadzor, Gyumri, and Armavir, as well as online: www.ukzhd.am. The travel time is 15 hours and 45 minutes. As compared to 2014, the prices have not changed significantly: 13,000-29,000 drams depending on the ticket type. All the cars of the train underwent technical service and meet the necessary sanitary-hygienic standards. The compartment coaches and sleep cars have WiFi connection. According to statistics of the SCR, as compared to 2008, in 2014 the number of transported passengers grew 538% - from 8.6 to 46.3 thousand people. CJSC "South Caucasian Railway" is a 100% subsidiary of JSC "Russian Railways" and provides concession management of Armenian railroads. CJSC "Armenian Railways" was referred to the concession management to the company "SCR" according to the Concession Agreement signed on February 13, 2008. The term of the concession management is 30 years with possible extension for another 10 years.
