Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian has met with Joachim Rucker, President of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), the Foreign Ministry of Armenia told ArmInfo.
The sides touched upon the report on Armenia submitted to the UNHRC. Nalbandian informed Rucker that Armenia as an important actor in the international fight against crimes against humanity has submitted a Genocide Prevention Resolution to the approval of the UNHCR 28th session. The Armenian minister urged the UN members to show strong support to the international efforts to prevent crimes against humanity.
While on a visit, the minister met also with Zeid Ra'ad Zeid al-Hussein, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. The sides discussed the step taken in Armenia to protect human rights.
Nalbandian said the international organization registered a significant progress in Armenia in the field of democratic reform, effective government, human rights protection, freedoms of assemble and speech, mass media and Internet. High Commissioner Al-Hussein confirmed the democratic development in Armenia and expressed hope for further reforms in the field.
Zeid Ra'ad Zeid al-Hussein stressed the importance of Armenia's consistent steps towards prevention of genocides.
