Approving a conclusion on the bill "On Recognition of the Republic of Artsakh" submitted by opposition MPs Zaruhi Postanjyan and Hrant Bagratyan by the Armenian Government does not mean that the bill itself has been approved, the foreign ministry of Armenia clarifies in its statement.
he statement also notes that Armenia has repeatedly stated in which case it will recognize the independence of Artsakh. "Armenia is a reliable and predictable partner and in case of making such decision President Serzh Sargsyan will inform his counterparts beforehand particularly the presidents of OSCE Minsk Group countries", the statement reads. The foreign ministry also expressed hope that Azerbaijan will act reasonably and will refrain from repeating April provocations.
To recall, earlier today the Armenian Government approved a conclusion on the bill "On Recognition of the Republic of Artsakh" submitted by opposition MPs Zaruhi Postanjyan and Hrant Bagratyan. The Government has submitted the bill for approval of the Armenian Parliament. The rationale for the bill is the outcome of the discussions on the issue between representatives of Armenia and Karabakh. Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian will present his opinion on the bill. To recall, during a meeting with the OSCE member states' ambassadors, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said on April 4 that if Baku continued its aggression and transformed it into large-scale hostilities, Armenia would recognize the independence of the NKR.
