Foreign Minister of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Karen Mirzoyan considers that successive international recognition of Artsakh will launch in the nearest future, which will have positive impact on the process of the peaceful settlement of the conflict. He made the remarks in an interview to RFE/RL's Armenian Service.
Due to recognition of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic the inevitability of negotiation process will be ensured and its sides will focus on the real tasks for ensuring peaceful co-existence of the two independent states established as a result of collapse of the Soviet Union. The Foreign Minister is sure that sooner or later the subjects of the international law will recognize Nagorno-Karabakh. "We are working in this direction", he stated stressing that everything will depend on the level of the country's development. Relating to the fact of putting the draft law on NKR recognition on Armenia's government agenda Karen Mirzoyan noted that NKR thinks that this issue is under the purview of Armenia's lawmakers.
Commenting on the information that Lavrov had visited Armenia with certain proposals on returning 5 districts to Azerbaijan, ensuring return of refugees, deploying peacekeepers in the conflict zone and giving status to NKR Karen Mirzoyan stated: "There are various rumors related to Lavrov's visit. In this context the efforts are important, which are conducted by Russia as well as by other co-chair counties aimed at forcing Azerbaijan to keep peace and refrain from future adventurism.
According to Karen Mirzoyan at the current stage the negotiation process has been stopped as it is impossible to hold negotiations taking into account Azerbaijan's steps aimed at torpedoing the negotiation process.
