The Investigation Committee of Armenia has announced in a statement that criminal charges have been brought against some participants in the January 15 spontaneous actions of protests in Gyumri. The Committee told ArmInfo, some of the detained protesters are charged with hooliganism and arbitrary actions against the Police. Fourteen people were injured and nearly two dozens were detained during the protest actions in Gyumri demanding that Permyakov be charged with the murders under Armenian law.
Avetisians - two grandparents, their son and daughter, a daughter- in-law, and little girl - were shot dead on 12 January by Valery Permyakov, a soldier serving at Moscow's 102nd military base in Gyumri. A six-month-old boy, Seryozha - in critical condition after suffering stab wounds - is the only survivor. Permyakov was detained while trying to cross into Turkey on the same day. He has admitted to the murder.
