Investigative Committee Department for Special Crimes has initiated a criminal case over disorders at the Erebuni-Nubarashen districts of Yerevan on July 29-July 30.
According to the Investigative Committee, the Police submitted video footage of the disorders committed by a group of persons late in the evening on July 29. "The Committee studied the materials and found out that a group of persons organized mass disorders in the above districts and used violence against police officers on duty in the given territory, which posed threat to the public security. In this light, the Department for Special Crime of the Investigative Committee of Armenia initiated a criminal case basing on Article 225.1 and Article 225.2 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (Organization of mass disorder by a group of persons)," the source reports.
The Police detained 23 people on suspicion of organizing and participating in the mass disorders. Armen Martirosyan, the vice chairman of the Heritage Party, and activist Andrias Ghukasyan are among the detained persons.
The source reports that the Investigative Committee is taking measures to expose the circumstances of the bodily harms of 67 citizens on the scene.
