An international competition of choreographic art will be held in Tsakhkadzor, a resort town in Armenia, on April 2-3. Executive Director of the Armenia’s Dance Sport Federation David Sargsyan told ArmInfo the competition will be held with the support of the Youth Foundation of Armenia and Retro Dance Club. The event organizers are “For the Implementation of International Conventions” NGO and the Dance Sports Federation. The competition will involve more than 200 dancers from Armenia and Georgia, who will perform various style dances, Sargsyan said.
The winners will receive medals, while the participants will be given runner-up prizes. A young dance couple from Saint Petersburg – Sonya Yesayan and Oleg Yasinsky – represents the Retro Dance Club and will perform under the Armenian flag.
“I always feel a high responsibility for representing our country. I hope to perform good and get a corner in the heart of the spectators,” the 17-year-old Sonya says.
The couple represented Armenia at an international competition in Italy on February 28, 2016, and won the 3rd place. They got the 3rd place in a similar competition in Saint Petersburg and the 2nd prize in the Czech Republic. A year ago, at the dance championship in Greece, the couple representing our country took the first prize and was included in the world’s rating in the category “Youth Standard.” The couple has been performing together for already 4 years. Sonya has been dancing since she was 9, and Oleg – since he was 6.
