The best way to the Black Sea for Iran lies through the territory of Armenia, Vardan Voskanyan, expert in Iranian Studies, said at a press conference in Yerevan on Tuesday.
"After Turkish President Erdogan escalated the simmering conflict with Kurds for purely domestic political purposes, the territory of Turkey as a transit corridor for Iran has somewhat lost its attractiveness. Certainly, Erdogan gained full victory at the parliamentary elections, but the price for the victory proved to be very high for the Turkish state," the Iranist stressed.
Voskanyan thinks that the territory of Azerbaijan is not attractive either. The main indicator of Tehran's grounded discontent with the Baku regime is the developments in the Shiite-populated settlement of Nardaran, where the religious preachers were arrested.
So, in such a geopolitical situation, Armenia is actually a non-competitive corridor for Iran to get access to the Black Sea ports with further access to the north and Europe, Voskanyan said.
