Azerbaijani authorities periodically make militaristic statements, as well as statements against OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs and at the same time complain that they do not receive assistance from the Co-Chair countries, Armenia's Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian announced at a press conference in Yerevan on February 2.
"This time Azerbaijani authorities took it a step further. Now they state that because Azerbaijan is an Islamic state Co-Chair countries being Islamophobes act against Baku. Of course it is even difficult to imagine this. But in nowadays conditions efforts to speculate on religious factor in such issue are extremely dangerous. Of course, this is not Azerbaijan's first effort, such efforts were made in various structures, but currently they directly blame Co-Chair countries in Islamophobia", Armenia's Foreign Minister noted.
According to Nalbandian, conferences and shows held in Baku cannot falsify the reality. "Azerbaijan perceives criticism addressed to it as Armenia's intrigues. As if its Armenia's fault that condition of human rights in Azerbaijan is criticized, European structures approve special resolutions on human rights in the country and oil export has declined. Armenia is guilty in Azerbaijan's all misfortunes", Armenia's Foreign Minister noted with irony. In this context he added that Baku has non-adequate approach to all the issues, including the negotiation process.
To note, recently Azerbaijan's president Ilham Aliyev accused Minsk Co-Chairs in pro-Armenian position on Karabakh settlement. According to him, this is explained by the fact that counters of OSCE MG are islamophobes, while Azerbaijan is an Islamic country.
