The fifth meeting of the working group for drafting a concept of circular migration took place in Yerevan on Friday.
The group was formed in Dec 2013 and comprises representatives of ministries and local and international organizations.
The final sixth meeting is scheduled for early 2015. By that time the concept is supposed to be ready for the Government's consideration.
Representative of Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Siran Yeganyan told ArmInfo that the concept will create additional employment opportunities for Armenian citizens in the EU.
The concept is being drafted by representatives of the ministries of labor and social security, territorial administration, Diaspora, health care and justice on the basis of the experience of Moldova, Georgia and Poland.
Ethnographer Hranush Kharatyan said that in Armenia migration is spontaneous. "This concept will make us aware of the number of organized migrants we have in one or another country, of their conditions and opportunities," Kharatyan said.
The project is being carried out in the framework of the EU's 3mln EUR Targeted Initiative for Armenia.
According to Head of the Census and Demography Department of the National Statistical Service of Armenia Karine Kuyumjyan said that according to the UN methodology, in the last four years the number of emigrants from Armenia has amounted to 115,000.
Head of the Sociometer Center Aharon Adibekyan said that according to a survey, 43.3% of Armenian citizens are potential emigrants, with 11% of the Armenian families receiving money from abroad.
