Armenians are the third on the list of the top three world leaders by the number of crowned kingpins, according to Prime Crime, which has analyzed the quantity, demography and national structure of the criminal lords.
The source says that Armenians do not spread their influence beyond Armenia. "After the authorities created favorable conditions for the Armenian kingpins, even those who lived in Sochi returned to the homeland. Now they prefer receiving guests from Moscow and lobbying their own interests at the highest state level. Throughout the post-Soviet space, the local kingpins enjoy such favorable conditions in Abkhazia as well," says the source.
Georgians top the list, because 276 people or 57% of the total number of criminal lords are Georgians. They have big clans in their native cities. "We won't exaggerate if we say that almost all Georgian kingpins are relatives or at least neighbors to a greater or lesser extent", the source says.
Russians rank next on the list. Their number is 61 and most of them have been crowned thanks to the Georgians. The local Slavonic kingpins crowned no later than early 1990s still enjoy favorable conditions. Unlike the "guests to the Russian capital", there are only 7-8 local kingpins in Moscow, but these figures enjoy immunity against both the police and the "guests". Even their names are unpopular.
The fourth position does not belong to the Azerbaijanis as many would think. Yezidis rank the fourth on the list. "The representatives of that persecuted but proud nationality, with Ded Hassan and Shakro being their brightest representatives, have been running the show in criminal Russia for about 25 years already. No other nationality has so far given four namesake kingpins with the Ozmanov surname and three namesake kingpins with the Kalashov (Kalashyan) surname. "Given that Yezidis do not marry non-Yezidis, these kingpins cannot be just namesake criminal lords," Prime Crime reports.
