U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Richard M. Mills has recently called on Hermine Naghdalyan, Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, to leave her post of the head of the Armenia-U.S. deputy friendship group, a Yerevan-based newspaper Zhoghovurd writes.
"The ambassador told Naghdalyan she could head the Armenia-U.S. deputy friendship group as she is a member of the Griboyedov Russian Club. Naghdalyan accepted the call and sent in her resignation. According to our source, the new head of the group is Samvel Nikoyan, a member of the Republican Party of Armenia faction in the parliament. Nikoyan was so encouraged with his appointment that organized a banquet for the members of the Armenia-U.S. deputy friendship group and invited the U.S. ambassador to the event too," the paper writes.
