Yerevan city is celebrating the 112th anniversary of famous composer Aram Khachaturian.
Yerevan municipality press-office has informed ArmInfo that on behalf of mayor Taron Margaryan Head of Culture and Tourism Department Kamo Movsesyan laid flowers on the grave of the famous composer at Komitas pantheon.
Khachaturian's granddaughter Olga Kuzina, as well as famous fine art experts and musicians also came to pay tribute to the famous composer.
An exhibition of rare violins is to be held within the framework of the events dedicated to the 112th anniversary.
Aram Il'yich Khachaturian (6 June 1903 - 1 May 1978) was a Soviet Armenian composer and conductor. He is considered one of the leading Soviet composers. Aram Khachaturian is a talented composer, whose compositions became part of the music classics of the 20-th century. His name is recognized throughout the world, and the compositions are performed worldwide, on the best theater stages, concert platforms, as well as the most distant places. Today, the music of Khachaturian is played on the radio, TV and cinema. The UNESCO places the name of Khachaturian among the most renowned composers of the 20-th century, and his "Sabre Dance" of the well-known ballet "Gayaneh" takes one of the first places in the list of the most popular compositions of our age.
