On April 24 the first commemorative demonstration on the Armenian Genocide is to take place in Rome since 1975. "Roman Committee on the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide" is the organizer of the event.
At 15:00 the Armenians, Italians and people of good will are to gather next to Porta Pia. The participants will march towards Turkish embassy. "Paying tribute to the memory of Armenian Genocide victims means to make advances towards peace and remove hatred, denial of any method of annihilation as a solution to social, economic, religious and ideological problems", the organizers say in their statement.
A commemorative march is also to take place in Moscow and Turin. Numerous cities are holding events dedicated to the centennial of the Armenian Genocide. New York has designated April 24 as a Commemorative Day of Armenian Genocide Victims.
