Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia reports that a criminal case has been initiated on the fact of the bus explosion of April 25.
According to the source, the criminal case was opened on the basis of Article 279.3 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (negligently caused human death). The Special Cases Department of the Investigative Committee is in charge of the case.
Two were killed and seven were wounded in a late night explosion on April 25 in Halabyan Street not far from the center of Yerevan. According to the Investigative Committee of Armenia, it was a Bogdan bus serving the No.63 public transport route. According to the source, at the moment of explosion, there were 9 passengers in the bus besides the driver. The bus operated on diesel.
A woman was hospitalized earlier in the morning. Aregnaz S. Galechyan (1955) left the scene after the explosion, but felt badly later and was taken to hospital. The two injured boys Roland S. Khojayan (2001) and Edgar A. Gasparyan (2002) underwent surgery and their lives are no longer in danger. The other injured passengers are receiving the necessary treatment at hospital now. One of the killed was identified. The identity of the second killed passenger is being verified.
Investigation is underway. A group of investigators, medical experts and other necessary personnel are working on the scene. All the necessary investigative measures and examinations are being held to find out the reason of the explosion. The resolution of the experts will be made public later.
