Armenian parliamentarian Nikol Pashinyan has slammed the first president of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan for his statements on the seized Police Patrol Service Regiment in Yerevan.
Addressing people in Khorenatsi Street where the seized building is located, Pashinyan criticized Levon Ter-Petrosyan's statement saying that the reason of what has happened in Yerevan during the recent days should not be discussed yet. "I am sure that he is well aware that an insight into the situation may lead to overthrowing of President Serzh Sargsyan. Actually, Ter-Petrosyan means that the people should not draw any conclusions or demand resignation of Sargsyan. In fact, Ter-Petrosyan and Sargsyan have made a plot on the Karabakh issue in line with the so- called Lavrov plan. It is a shameful plan for Armenia and for every citizen of Armenia. Why has he done it? Besides geopolitical interests, there are also personal ones. He wants to help Sargsyan yield the liberated territories to prove that he was right when suggesting it in 1997- 1998," Pashinyan said. He is sure that it is inadmissible to speak of any concessions, amid Aliyev's aggressive behavior. "Otherwise, it will be a capitulation for Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh," Pashinyan said.
To recall, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, in particular, said: "In order not to make an impression that I avoid from directly answering to the given question I state that today it is senseless to analyze the reasons that have led to the armed seizure of the state building", Ter- Petrosyan said. He thinks that after this highly dangerous situation is resolved analysis should be conducted and lessons should be learnt from these events. "On the current stage such an analysis may only escalate the situation", the former president said. According to Levon Ter-Petrosyan it is necessary to avoid new bloodshed and resolve the issue via peaceful negotiations, no matter how difficult they will be. He said the patriotism of Jirayr Sefilyan and his supporters is beyond any doubts. Ter-Petrosyan said Sefilyan is able to think and act soberly. "I hope he will rate the fate of Karabakh and Armenia above everything this time too."
