After the 9/11, the world has come across new forms of international Islamic terrorism, Richard Giragosian, Director of the Regional Studies Center (RSC), told reporters when commenting on the recent terror attacks in Paris.
He said that the anti-terrorism fight should contain first of all economic measures. He thinks that young people in Muslim countries have no steady income and join the Islamic radicalism ideas. Giragosian stresses the need to prevent the spread of the Islamic radicalism ideology in every possible way because extreme Islamisation has nothing to do with real Islam. The expert does not believe that it is possible to achieve any results at the negotiating table. It is impossible to negotiate with the terrorists, he said. As regards the possible threat Islamic radicalism poses to Armenia's national security, the expert said that it can be considered in the context of Azerbaijan's involvement.
To note, there was a series of coordinated terror attacks in Paris on November 13, starting from 9:30 pm. The first attacks were launched virtually simultaneously, with two explosions close to the Stade de France, four miles apart. The explosions came as a large crowd was enjoying the first half of the international friendly between France and Germany. The attacks then moved to central Paris, where the gunmen opened fire on a number of restaurants. 89 perished during a hostage situation in the Bataclan during an Eagles of Death Metal concert. The ISIS claimed responsibility for the terror attacks in the capital of France. The terror attacks in Paris left over 130 people dead and injured nearly 300.
