The Interim Parliamentary Commission's data about the losses in the gas supply system do not coincide with Gazprom Armenia CJSC's data.
At today's session of the Parliament, Vardan Ayvazyan, Chairman of the Commission, MP from the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, said that Gazprom Armenia has a problem of losses. He said that the losses constitute 5.37%, including 3.15% in the gas transmission system and 2.22% in the distribution system. Moreover, these losses are included in the current tariff.
But according to the order of the Armenian minister of energy and natural resources, the maximum admissible limit of the losses should not exceed 8.62%, he added. He stressed the need to discuss the amendments to the law "On energy", which limited the company's purchases. In particular, it is offered to admit possible acquisition of a Toyota car worth 40 thsd USD by the company, but the cars, whose prices exceed the specified amount, should be deducted from the company's profit without damaging the state budget.
It should be noted, however, that on April 1 Deputy CEO of Gazprom Armenia Hrant Tadevosyan told the media that the company was going to reduce the losses in the gas transmission system from 4% to 2%. He said that at the moment the losses in the distribution system make up 2%, which is a rather high indicator. He pointed out that the relevant surveys have already been conducted and the relevant proposals will be submitted for consideration of the Armenian Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and for approval of the Armenian Public Services Regulatory Commission.
More than 9 billion AMD has been invested in modernization of the gas distribution system of Gazprom Armenia CJSC since 2005.
Gazprom Armenia CJSC (previously ArmRusgasprom) supplies natural gas to the Armenian domestic market from Russia. Its sole owner is Gazprom (Russia).
