A Middle Paleolithic Neanderthal site has been discovered in the village of Arevut, Aragatsotn region.
Researcher from the Archeologist and Ethnography Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia Boris Gasparyan has told ArmInfo that the site is really huge. "It may have as many as 12,000,000-15,000,000 artifacts. This is really amazing to find so many artifacts in one site," Gasparyan said.
He said that they had carried out test excavations this year and have found as many as 15,000 artifacts in just seven small pits.
The excavations are being carried out by an Armenian-US expedition.
