The Ukrainian crisis has questioned Moldova's neutrality, Moldavian parliamentarian and political expert Bogdan Tsirdya said during an online press conference when replying to ArmInfo's question.
"The overtures with NATO have intensified, so have the dependence on the USA and the EU. Moldova is acting almost in sync with Romania and Ukraine. The stand has changed with respect to Russia and the CIS as well. Russophobia has also intensified in the Moldavian mass media. The military cooperation promotion with NATO and the attempts to destabilize the situation in Transnistria and Gagauzia cause certain concerns. On March 16, the Moldavian prime minister even asked NATO to open a representative office in Moldova," he aid.
The expert thinks that Chisinau's refusal from neutrality is also proved by the Moldavian contingent's participation in the NATO peacekeeping operation in Kosovo. According to the Russian Aggression Prevention Act 2014, Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova were provided with a status of the USA's allies. Afterwards, the Senate adopted the SR 500 resolution to support Moldova's territorial integrity and condemn Russia's pressure on Chisinau.
The online press conference of the experts, analysts and political experts for Armenia's mass media is organized within the framework of the project "Relevant Dialogues on Armenia's new integration agenda" of the "Region" Research Center.
