Head of Armenia's Permanent Mission to the OSCE, Ambassador Arman Kirakosian made a speech at the special session of OSCE Permanent Council, Thursday, wherein he levered harsh criticism at Azerbaijan's cease-fire violations and sabotages that has escalated tensions and claimed the lives on both parties.
According to the Armenian Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Kirakosian slammed Azerbaijan for violating the trilateral agreements of May 1994 and February 1995 and neglecting the calls of the OSCE Minsk Group and the world community to refrain from provocative actions. Kirakosian recalled that the Azerbaijani troops began using heavy weapons and firing at the near border villages of Armenia. The Armenian diplomat condemned the public humiliation and tortures that caused the death of Karen Petrosyan, a resident of Chinari village, who accidentally crossed the border and fell in Azeri captivity. Ambassador Kirakosian said that Baku declines the mediators' suggestions to create mechanisms to inquire into the incidents along the Line and Contact, which makes it responsible for the ceasefire breaches and fatalities. In this light, the ambassador reaffirmed that Armenia and Artsakh together with the countries co- chairing the tripartite mediating body are committed to peaceful settlement of the conflict. The diplomat hopes that after the Sochi meeting, Baku will stop anti-Armenian rhetoric and exert efforts towards peaceful resolution of the conflict.
