The "Wake up, Armenia!" movement council condemns the illegal actions of the Police and the slackness of the authorized structures.
"The Armenian police keep hindering the sit-in against the rising electricity tariffs. So, the police violate Article 24 of the Law on Freedom of Assembly by infringing the right to peaceful rallies," the movement says in a statement.
The statement points out that due to the police's violence, David Sanasaryan, member of the movement council, got back injuries and was taken to Erebuni Medical Center.
The movement council condemns the illegal actions of the police and urges them to remove the cordon and to support the peaceful demonstration in a lawful manner.
To note, on June 27 the "Wake up, Armenia!" movement started a sit-in in Republic Square. The demonstrators demand abolishing the Public Services Regulatory Commission's decision to raise the electricity tariffs.
