The 102nd Russian military base deployed in Armenia will be staffed with contract servicemen only starting the spring of 2016, RF Armed Forces General Staff told Interfax military news agency.
"The last conscripts will leave the 102nd Russian military base stationed in Armenia in the spring of 2016," the source reports.
Representatives of the General Staff said a relevant decision was adopted yet last year and it bears no relation to the tragedy in Gyumri, where 6 persons of the same family were murdered earlier this month.
He recalled that the 201st Russian military base in Tajikistan has been staffed with contract servicemen since December 2014. He assured that the mental health and psychological resilience of servicemen will be thoroughly examined before they are sent to Russia's military bases abroad.
