Georgia's association with the European Union and Armenia's accession into the Eurasian Economic Union have created certain problems in Georgian-Armenian trade relations. And so, we are going to meet shortly to negotiate them, Ambassador of Georgia to Armenia Tengiz Sharmanashvili said in an interview with Azatutyun.am.
He said that Georgia's Economy Minister will visit Yerevan on Nov 11-12 with a view to compare Georgia's and Armenia's membership obligations and to find compromises in case of contradictions. "I don't think there will be lots of contradictions but even if there will be ones, I don't think they will be insuperable," Sharmanashvili said. He is sure that Georgia and Armenia will be able to solve all of their problems without the EU and Russia.
"After all our trade turnover is not big enough to be able to affect the economies of the EU or the EEU. So, I don't think that they will object to our close relations. I am optimistic as our authorities are strongly committed to continue to be friends. We are not going to talk about Armenia with Russia. We are going to talk about Armenia with Armenia. Our bilateral relations are our bilateral relations. But if later either of us wants to clear up something with his ally, he is free to do it," Sharmanashvili said
