The social tension in Armenia will not turn into the Maidan, mainly because the protesting people either prefer to leave the country or to "let off steam" at the rallies, director of the "Sociometer" Centre, sociologist, Aharon Adibekyan, said at today's press-conference.
He presented the results of public opinion poll held recently, according to which only 15% of citizens prefer radical measures when settling vexed problems, 20% are for the peaceful measures and the rest could not answer the question. Adibekyan thinks that unlike Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan, such a low critical mass in Armenia cannot shake the political boat. "The positions of the Armenian authorities are rather stable. Moreover, they do not hinder holding of the opposition rallies. These rallies play into the hands of the authorities, as people gather, make noise and break up", - Adibekyan said.
He thinks that the population's trust level in the opposition "three" also does not let to hang hat on serious success of the rally fight of the "three". According to the public opinion poll held among 915 districts of Armenia, 74% citizens support the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, 8,6% - the Prosperous Armenia Party, 3,8% - ARFD and 1,4% - Orinats Yerkir Party.
