Founding Parliament movement calls on the regions and Artsakh to join the ongoing demonstration against electricity price hikes in Yerevan.
"Oppressive regime with a savagery characteristic to it tried to frighten the youth movement members. But failed and retreated. However, it is a temporary retreat. The authorities use time to tank energy and shatter the opposition movement," the Founding Parliament says in a statement. The authors of the statement are sure the continuous fight will lead to inevitable victory. "However, those sitting on Baghramyan Ave need support and assistance of the regions and Artsakh. It is necessary to turn Yerevan into a center of nation-wide fight and force the regime to obey to the people," the authors say.
To note, the sit-in against the electricity price hike continues in Yerevan for the 6th day already. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan expressed willingness to receive the delegation of the protesters and discuss their problems, however, the activists rejected that proposal. On June 23 in the morning, the Police used water cannons to disperse the sit-in. Later, on June 23 in the evening the people gathered in Baghramayan Ave again. Opposition parliamentarians also went to Baghramyan Ave.
Various international organizations and some foreign diplomatic missions in Armenia have slammed the police's actions against the peaceful demonstrators and journalists. They demanded immediate inquiry intro the cases of violence.
