The Investigative Committee of Armenia reports more circumstance of last night's bus explosion in Yerevan.
Investigators of the Special Cases Department of the Investigative Committee, the National Security Service and Police working at the scene of the explosion, among other important items connected with the incident found a SIM-card. The holder of the card has been identified. He is a citizen of Armenia with two previous convictions. In the course of the search in his apartment, TNT explosive, detonator and various electronic devices were found, the Investigative Committee reports.
TNT explosive particles were found at the scene, on the fragments of the bus. The preliminary investigation has confirmed the traces of TNT explosives at the scene. All the nine passengers of the exploded bus were citizens of Armenia with no previous convictions. The places of their permanent residence were searched and nothing suspicious was found.
The National Security Service operative investigation team took all the necessary measures to identify the body of second killed passenger. The body is heavy to identify, so a DNA test will be organized. All the video footages from the road surveillance cameras have been confiscated within the interests of the investigation. The preliminary investigation has not found any facts confirming a terror attack. The investigation is continued to find out more circumstances and details of the incident," the Investigative Committee says.
Two were killed and seven were wounded in a late night explosion on April 25 in Halabyan Street not far from the center of Yerevan. According to the Investigative Committee of Armenia, it was a Bogdan bus serving the No.63 public transport route. According to the source, at the moment of explosion, there were 9 passengers in the bus besides the driver. The bus operated on diesel.
A woman was hospitalized earlier in the morning. Aregnaz S. Galechyan (1955) left the scene after the explosion, but felt badly later and was taken to hospital. The two injured boys Roland S. Khojayan (2001) and Edgar A. Gasparyan (2002) underwent surgery and their lives are no longer in danger. The other injured passengers are receiving the necessary treatment at hospital now. One of the killed was identified. The identity of the second killed passenger is being verified.
Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia initiated a case on the basis of Article 279.3 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (negligently caused human death). The Special Cases Department of the Investigative Committee is in charge of the case.
