The Armenian Culture Ministry is elaborating a law "On Cinematography".
The official website of the Culture Ministry reports that a commission of experts has been set up by Minister Hasmik Poghosyan's order. The first meeting of the commission was held on March 3 under chairmanship of Poghosyan. Harutyun Khachatryan, Director of Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival, Vrej Kassouny, Director at ReAnimania International Animation Film Festival of Yerevan, Gevorg Gevorgyan, Head of the National Cinema Center of Armenia, and Ruben Gevorgyants, Chairman of the Cinematographers' Union of Armenia, took part in the meeting.
Earlier, Gevorg Gevorgyan told ArmInfo that the new law will allow resolving a number of topical problems in the filmmaking field. In particular, it will regulate the tax and customs policies and will facilitate the export of the relevant equipment to Armenia.
Experts think that due to the law, cinematography will become attractive for investors.
The issues related to elaboration of the Armenian law "On Movies" have already been discussed with the representatives of the French National Centre for Cinema and the Moving Image (CNC).
