At present, the opening of the Abkhazian sector of the railway towards Armenia is doubtful, although Russia resolved the most complicated problem - it had got the consent of the Abkhazian party, Russian political expert, Vladimir Evseev, told ArmInfo correspondent when commenting on yesterday's statement by Putin about the necessity of opening of the railway.
The opening of the Abkhazian sector of the railway is strategically important for Armenia, as it is the shortest and cheapest way to Russia.
He said that if earlier Sukhumi was demanding from Yerevan to recognize independence of Abkhazia, as a precondition, today this issue was removed from the agenda, as, for its part, Moscow made serious concessions to Sukhumi. "Now Tbilisi should take the final decision, but the latter is suppressed by the USA. Nevertheless, I think that the problem should be settled, and Abashidze-Karasin commission could play a great part here. Moreover, Moscow is ready to finance opening of this sector, if all the disagreements with Tbilisi are removed", - the expert said.
He did not rule out, that in its aspiration to resolve the issue and get Georgia's consent, Russia will agree to withdraw any trade limits for Tbilisi.
To recall, the Georgian party by the mouth of the president of the country, criticized the fact that Russia and Abkhazia had signed the strategic partnership treaty. President Georgi Margvelashvili said: "The so-called agreement 'on alliance and strategic partnership' between the Russian Federation and the occupied Abkhazia is a step towards annexation of Georgia's territories. This will make the situation in the South Caucasus even more complicate and create an insuperable problem for Abkhazia."
