Europa Nostra, the leading European heritage organisation, and the European Investment Bank Institute (EIBI) have published the list of 'The 7 Most Endangered' monuments and sites for 2016. These endangered landmarks include archaeological site of Ererouyk and the village of Ani Pemza, Armenia, the press office of the Armenian Ministry of Culture reports.
The shortlisted monuments and sites were selected with due regard for their outstanding heritage and cultural value as well as the grave danger that they are facing.
Ererouyk Basilica is a 5th century Armenian church near the village of Anipemza in the Shirak Province of Armenia, 8 km southeast of the ancient city of Ani (present-day Turkey).
The basilica of Ererouyk is one of the earliest surviving Christian monuments in Armenia.
'The 7 Most Endangered' programme was launched in January 2013 by Europa Nostra with the European Investment Bank Institute as founding partner and the Council of Europe Development Bank as associated partner.
