President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan expressed his
displeasure with Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan at the latest meeting of
the Republican Party Executive Body, Zhamanak Daily writes.
The paper reports that the reason of the president's
discontent was Hovsepyan's attempts to 'back' former head of the Special
Investigation Service (SIS) Andranik Mirzoyan, who had been dismissed recently.
"Mirzoyan and Hovsepyan had rather close
relations. Although Mirzoyan was not officially subordinate to the prosecutor
general, he often fulfilled Hovsepyan's charges," the paper writes.
At the meeting with the SIS
officers on May 6 the president introduced new SIS Head Vahram Shahinyan and
declared that the former head Mirzoyan did not made enough efforts to enhance
activity of the Service as an institutional and independent part of criminal
justice.
