Tashir Group owned by Russian-Armenian businessman Samvel Karapetyan is a beneficiary party to the deal on purchase of the Electric Network of Armenia (ENA), a reliable source told ArmInfo.
Economy Minister Karen Chshmarityan told reporters earlier today he has no information on the owner and the activity of LIORMAND HOLDINGS LIMITED that was registered in Cyprus in Nov 2010. Nevertheless, the source reports that the new owner of ENA is Samvel Karapetyan who enjoys protection of the top leadership of Armenia.
To recall, Russian INTER RAO has informed the Government of Armenia of its intention to sell 100% stake in Electric Networks of Armenia CJSC to LIORMAND HOLDINGS LIMITED, according to the draft decision of the Government that is available on the website.
According to the source, the Government of Armenia charges the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Economy to hold consultations with the3 future owners of ENA within three days to verify the terms of the contract with the first owner of the company - Midland Resources Holding Limited. The owner undertakes the terms of the contract between the Government of Armenia and Midland Resources Holding Limited (registered in British Virgin Island) dating back to Aug 26 2002. In addition, the ministries are charged to study the contract of INTER RAO and LIORMAND HOLDINGS LIMITED and submit a relevant resolution to the Government.
LIORMAND HOLDINGS LIMITED was registered in Cyprus in 2010. No data on the company or its owner are available anywhere, including in the web. It was reported earlier that ENA might be sold to the Russian company Tashir Group owned by Samvel Karapetyan.
