"The April battles confirmed that Azerbaijan's opinion should be taken into consideration," Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said during a meeting with servicemen, APA reports.
He once again blamed the Armenian side for violating the standards and principles of international law. "The international law does not work in Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno Karabakh conflict. However, our country will continue its diplomatic and political efforts," APA quotes Aiyev as saying. He also tried to shift the responsibility for the April aggression against Karabakh on Armenia, thereby justifying the Azerbaijani armed forces' actions against the civilian population of Artsakh.
"The April battles will remain in the history as a big military victory. The Azerbaijani army displayed bravery and liberated part of the occupied territories, particularly, part of the Aghdam, Fizuli and Jebrail districts, and retrieved control over the strategic heights," he said, expressing hope that these developments will become a serious signal for Armenia and the structures engaged in the peace process. "When the international mediators increase pressure, Armenia resorts to various provocations," he says.
