The meeting of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia's presidents in St. Petersburg on 20 June must be considered in the context of general peacekeeping tendencies of Nagorno-Karabakh settlement, expert Aleksandr Manasyan expressed this opinion at a press conference.
According to him, Russia, as one of the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, succeeded in this mediator mission and in some sense made Azerbaijan to pull back from its position and to make concessions on the issue of creating mechanism to investigate ceasefire violations. However, the expert didn't rule out the possibility of Azerbaijan's rejection of the agreements reached.
Speaking about the dominant role of Russia in the negotiation process, the expert did not rule out the fact that Moscow is trying to win Baku's sympathy at the background of deteriorating relations with Ankara.
