An activist of the No To Plunder! Coordinating Group Maksim Sargsyan says referring to his sources that the Police applied force against the detained protesters.
He said the Police took advantage of the fact that the nighttime protesters left home and dispersed the remaining not large number of protesters. Coordinator of the movement Arthur Hakobyan, in turn assures that the protesters will gather in the Liberty Square today at 7:00pm to decide upon their further actions. According to the Police, 6 out of 46 detainees are minors, who were set free immediately. "As to the remaining, they will not face administrative measures," Ashot Aharonyan, the Police spokesperson says.
Earlier today, on July 6, the Armenia's Police dispersed the protest against the electricity prices hikes after weeks of sit-in on Baghramyan Avenue where the president's headquarters is located.
The Police have opened the traffic way by leaving the barricades of litterbins separating the protesters and police for two weeks. An estimated 46 protesters have been detained. Among the detainees are activists Vaghinak Shushanyan and David Sanasaryan.
