Parliamentary elections in the Nagorny Karabakh Republic (NKR) were held without any incidents or violations, Arkady Ghukassyan, the ex-president of NKR told reporters after voting. The ex-president said he hopes Karabakh will become even more democratic country and elections will become exemplary.
As for the rumors that Artsakh will shift to the parliamentary system of government, the ex-president said the last decision is upon the people of Artsakh.
According to the NKR Central Election Commission, five political parties have overcome the 5% threshold to the parliament: Free Motherland - 47%, Democratic Party of Artsakh and ARFD by 19%, Movement-88 - 6.5%, and National Revival - 5%. Communist Party of Nagorny Karabakh (1.5%) and Peace and Development Party (less than 1%) did not overcome the threshold.
