Traffic Restrictions in Force on Some Sections of Military-Georgian Highway

Tbilisi.  Traffic of all kinds of vehicle is prohibited on sections Gudauri-Kobi and Stepantsminda-Lars of the highway Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars (Military-Georgian Highway) because of intensive snowfall and danger of avalanches, the Georgian Road Department reports on Tuesday, January 8.

Traffic of trailers and half-trailers and buses designed, for more than 30 passengers, is not allowed on the sections Aragvispiri-Gudauri and Kobi-Stepantsminda of the Military Georgian Highway. Traffic of the rest kinds of vehicle is free on section Aragvispiri-Pasanauri, traffic of the rest kinds of vehicle is allowed with anti-sliding chains on sections Pasanauri-Gudauri and Kobi-Stepantsminda.

Traffic of vehicle with two and more leading axles is not restricted.

Police coordinate permanently traffic of vehicle.

During last month the Military-Georgian Highway was closed several times for traffic of vehicle on the Georgian side's request. Those measures were taken in connection with worsening of weather conditions on the Cross Pass.
