Friendly relations between Armenian and Georgian people and visits on high level contribute to development of bilateral relations and enhancement of cooperation, stated Armenia's Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian during meeting with Georgian Defense Minister Tinatin Khidasheli, who is currently in Yerevan on an official visit, Armenia's Foreign Ministry's press- service reports.
Georgia's Defense Minister in her turn presented goals of her visit to Armenia and results of the meetings in Armenia's Defense Ministry. During the meeting the sides touched upon a wide range of issues of bilateral agenda, as well as prospects of enhancement of cooperation in defense field. The Ministers exchanged opinions on current regional issues. Nalbandian told Khidasheli about Armenia and OSCE Minsk Group's efforts aimed at peaceful settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The same day Georgian Defense Minister met with the Prime Minister of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan. Armenian Prime Minister noted that visits on high level contribute to development and strengthening of relations between the two friendly states. Abrahamyan emphasized that political and economic relations between Armenia and Georgia are on high level. In this context he mentioned the importance of development and extension of cooperation in defense field, which in its turn will strengthen security of the whole region. According to the Prime Minister in the current complex geopolitical conditions in order to tackle the challenges cooperation in the field of defense and security is not only timely but also compulsory.
The Georgian Minister in her turn noted that Armenian-Georgian cooperation in the defense field develops not only in bilateral format but also in the framework of NATO peacekeeping mission. Khidasheli also emphasized the importance of strengthening regional security and ensuring peace. During the meeting the sides exchanged opinions on a range of issues of mutual interest.
